Definition
Derivative is the forming of words that derive from the other words or the base of verb, adjective, and as others.
A. Penambahan Suffixes (akhiran)
a. Suffix “ness”
Suffix “ness dapat merubah kata sifat (adjective) menjadi kata benda(noun).
Example : happy => happyness (kegembiraan)
They always show their happiness in front of class.
b. Suffix “ment”
Example : agree => agreement (persetujuan)
My father agreement to go to bandung next holiday
Example : agree => agreement (persetujuan)

c. Suffix “ion”
Example : add => addition (tambahan)
The addition of that product is influence market.
d. Suffix “hood”
Example : Woman => Womanhood (keseluruhan wanita)
Kartini speaks for woman emancipation, its means she speaks for all womanhood.

e. Suffix “or”
Example : Direct => director (pemimpin)

B. Prefix (Awalan)
a. Prefix “Mis”
Prefix “mis” dapat ditambahkan kepada kata kerja (verb) atau kata benda (noun). Yang berarti menidakkan.
Example : Misunderstand : salah pengertian.

b. Prefix “dis”
Example : Disagreement : tidak setuju.
I disagreement about your opinion.
c. Suffix “ish, y, ly”.
Ish digunakan untuk menunjukkan milik dari kata benda tersebut dan biasanya digunakan untuk orang.
Example :
1) Spanish : orang spanyol
2) Childish : kekanak-kanakan.
3) Kindly : bersahabat
4) Rainy : Keadaan hujan, waktu hujan
C. Noun Forming
