Subjuctive “Wish”

Definition of subjunctive

Untuk menunjukan keadaan yang berlawanan dengan kenyataan sebenarnya.

Type of subjunctive wish :

•         Simple Future Tense

•         Simple Present Tense

•         Simple Past Tense

Formula :

•         Type I ( Future Tense ) :

Ø S + wish/wishes + S + could/would +V1

Ø S + wish/wishes + S + could/would +be + ANA

Example :

1.    I wish I could fly

2.    She wishes she would be winner.

•      Type II (Simple Present Tense) :

ü S + wish/wishes + S + were + ANA

ü S + wish/wishes + S + V2

Example :

1.    He wishes  he got  good mark.

2.    I wish  I were  here

Exercise

1. I wished she (is). . . . . . . here.
2. He wishes I (go) . . . . . to the meeting .

Answer :

1. I wished she had been here.
2. He wishes I went to the meeting
